Dear users,
since the beginning of the Baobab service in 2013, we haven’t enforced storage quota. As we now have a lot more users, we contact on a regular basis the “top” storage users, asking them to clean up their data not needed anymore. This is time consuming and not working with every user.
For this reason, we have decided to do a big change: we’ll enforce storage quota during the next Baobab maintenance in September 2022.
What does it involves for you:
-
You’ll be limited to 1TB max of data in your home. If you upper this limit after the maintenance you won’t be able to write anymore to your home directory until you free up some space.
-
if you need more than 1TB of storage, you should use the scratch space as we don’t enforce quota. This space isn’t backuped. We don’t enforce quota on this storage, but we’ll monitor the usage, specifically regarding files older than 3 months.
You can see in our documentation how to check your current storage usage.
You can as well see what are the archival services available at UNIGE
Best regards
