Yggdrasil scheduled maintenance: 06-09 May 2025

Dear users,

We will be performing software and hardware maintenance on the Yggdrasil HPC cluster from 06 to 09 May 2025, starting at 08:00 +0100.

You’ll receive an email when the maintenance is finished. The cluster will be completely unavailable during this time, with no access whatsoever (not even to retrieve files).

When submitting a job, make sure that the expected wall time (duration) doesn’t overlap with the start of the maintenance, or it will be scheduled after. What will be done during this maintenance

  1. Migrate our physical admin servers to our dedicated proxmox cluster instance.

  2. Re install all the compute nodes with latest security and bufgfix releases.

  3. Update all servers to the latest security and bugfix releases.

During the maintenance period we are very busy and provide limited user support.

Dear users, we are pleased to announce that the yggdrasil maintenance is now complete.

The maintenance was longer than usual, but we were able to do what we had planned: migrate our physical administration servers to our new virtual infrastructure. We’re very happy with this upgrade as it will give us more flexibility for the future.

Our colleague Remy from Astro was also able to install 6 new compute nodes and helped us with “remote cabling” and network stuff, thanks to him.
